Tulu Koota Kuwait successfully held its annual general meeting at United Indian School Auditorium- Abbasiya on Friday 18th December 2009 at 10:00 pm to elect the new committee for the year 2010.
The annual general meeting initiated with devotional song followed by lighting of traditional lamp by the outgoing management committee members led by President Mr. A.K.Ravindra. The outgoing President delivered the welcome address and he highlighted the activities of Tulukoota in the year 2009 and thanked everyone for their extensive support extended to tulukoota.
There after the general secretary Mr.Sathya Narayan presented annual report on the activities organized during the year 2009, and the annual financial report was presented by the treasurer of TULUKOOTA. This was followed by awarding certificates to the participants of Tuluparba 2009, for their zealous contributions during the year 2009.
Tulu Koota's dynamic and able member and Ex.Vice President, Mrs. Swarna Shetty unanimously elected as president for the year 2010.
Mr.Sachidananda , the returning officer, successfully conducted the election of the new management committee for the year 2010. All the management committee candidates have been elected unanimously except the Vice President candidate. Unanimously elected candidates are Mrs.Swarna Shetty as president, Mr.Sathya Narayana Salian as general secretary, Mrs.Agnelo as joint secretary, Mr.Vishweshwara Karkala as treasurer, Mr.Mark Pinto as internal auditor, Mr.Suresh Salian as culture secretary, Mr.Mohammed Iqbal as sports secretary, Mr.Ramesh Kidiyoor as welfare officer and Mr.Chandrahas Shetty as public relations officer.
For the first time in the history of Tulu Koota Kuwait (TKK), voting was held for the post of vice-president. In TKK’s long history, office-bearers had been unanimously selected every year.
The voting was started at 11:30am and held till 1.00 pm on Friday December 18 at United Indian School Auditorium- Abbassiya after strict checking of membership status and identity proof.
Only active members who had renewed their membership for the year 2009 were eligible for voting and there was no chance of renewing the membership on the spot.
TKK’s two time vice-president Suwarna Chandrahas Shetty was unanimously selected president for the year 2010. Incidentally, she is also the wife of former president Chandrahas Shetty.
Pascal B Pinto’s 60 votes to his rival Tharendra Shettigar’s 53, ensured that he emerged vice-president creating history in the process. This year’s election was considered significant as TKK is completing 10 years and there will be a series of celebrations in 2010.

All the newly elected members were invited for their self introduction. President Swarna Shetty in her speech expressed her thanks to the outgoing committee members for making Tulukoota Kuwait as successful and strong organization as it is today. She welcomed the newly elected members of the management committee and assured that they aimed to continue the good work in networking, enriching and bonding the rich culture and people of Tulunadu.
