As people from Tulunadu assembled to celebrate 9th Tuluparba function on Friday 9th October 2009, the American Creativity school glittered in the festivity and fervor , with hundreds of fans of Mohan Alva anxiously awaiting his arrival.
The American Creativity hall was a scene of excitement, celebration, festivity, cultural pomp and grace Around 11:00 am Mohan Alva was accorded a traditional Tulunadu welcome nadaswaram, chande, umbrella reception, ladies holding kalasha, girls showering flowers, a perfect setting to host beloved son of Tulunadu Mr. Mohan Alva
The morning program got a colourful start with a warm welcome by morning section hosts : Antiha Shetty & Sanath Shetty, and lighting of the lamp by Mohan Alva and the managing committee thus marking official commencement of the function. This was followed by release of Tulukoota Kuwait souvenir commemorating the activities during the year and support of patrons and well wishers.
Mrs. Swarna Shetty delivered the welcome speech , and this was followed by graceful welcome by the the Tulukoota Kuwait kids. "Jai Bharata Jananii Tanu Jate” welcome dance set the tone for the rest of the day.
Chende pradarshana (drum beats) depicted the rich heritage of Karnataka. This was followed by cinematic dance and jokes. Skit – “Jesus life time story ‘ beautifully depicted teachings. The programs that followed later in the afternoon had a beautiful dance from the tiny tots of Tulukoota, ; Karate, jokes and tribal dance ‘’Kumbaranna”’
The highlight of the lunch this year at Tuluparba was a special Tulunadu vegetarian lunch served on banana leaves. The scene during the lunch session revived memories of Tulunadu.
The afternoon session begain around 3:00 pm after lunch and was hosted beautifully by Yadunatha Alva & Janet D;souza. H.E Ajai Malhotra Indian ambassador to Kuwait the Chief Guest of the evening arrived around 3:30pm accompanied with his wife Mrs. Ira Malhotra.
The highlight of the afternoon session was the beautifully choreographed Fashion Show , Pilivesha done by younger kids of Tulukoota, and Asia darshan that beautifully depicted the cultural diversity of Asia. .India, Indonesia, Srilanka, Bangladesh, Philipines countries participated in here.
This was followed by Felicitation, honouring of the program sponsors M/s Jassim Al Wazzan , UAE Exchange, Sunbouk international.
Scholarships and merit certificate being awarded to tulukoota kids for academic excellence, Talent of the year, sport excellence awards being presented by Mrs. Ira Malhotra, honouring of committee members Shankar Shetty & Navin Mascrenhas for their selfless service to the koota. The most nostalgic moment was honouring Mohan Alva the guest of honor and his speech.
The program concluded with beautifully choreographed program called Tudar depicting cultural diversity of India, followed by vote of thanks delivered by General Secretary –Sathyanarayan and national anthem by the committee members.
