Tulukoota Kuwait (TKK) has recorded one more grand success event to its events list of 2009 as it has successfully organized the women’s throw ball and men’s volleyball tournaments at the American International School Indoor stadium Hawally on Friday, November 27 starting from 8:30 am.

Tulukoota Kuwait (TKK) has recorded one more grand success event to its events list of 2009 as it has successfully organized the women’s throw ball and men’s volleyball tournaments at the American International School Indoor stadium Hawally on Friday, November 27 starting from 8:30 am.

The event initiated at 8:30 am with prayer. The registered teams for the women's throw ball were AAK, Al Rathah, Kuwait Konkans, Spikers, Tulukoota Kuwait, Dubop, Starz, Shooting Starz, Smashers and Abbassiya Orions. All the teams presented themselves in their colourful sports uniforms at the charming opening ceremony. Vice-president of Tulukoota, Swarna Shetty, welcomed the participating teams and wished them all the success and opened the throw ball tournament by serving the ball.

The inaugural throw ball match was played between the Tulukoota Kuwait and AAK. The grand final throw ball match was won by Kuwait Konkans, by beating the Starz team. The volleyball matches began at around 10.30 am, with the service of the first ball by TKK advisor, Sudhakar Shetty. The teams took part in the volley ball tournament were Salmiya A, Salmiya B, Tulukoota Kuwait, Kunjal Friends, Paladka Friends and Kuwait Friends.

The inaugural volley ball match was played with great enthusiasm and excitement between Tulukoota Kuwait and Paladka Friends. The grand finale was won by Kunjal Friends, by silencing the challenge of Salmiya Friends B team.

Special attraction of the day was the team of cheer girls, which danced and performed through out the day and enthralled the audience and the participants.

Alexander Mathew and D K Dilip officiated the volleyball matches, Ivan D'Souza and Suresh Bangera officiated the throwball matches.

Awards were distributed to the teams as follows:

VOLLEY BALL:

Winners – Kunjal Friends

Runners up – Salmiya Friends B

III Place – PaladkaFriends

Best Lifter – Melwyn (KunjalFriends)

Best Smasher – Abdul Samad (KunjalFriends)

Player of the Tournament – Naveen Mascarenhas (Kuwait Friends).

THROW BALL:

Winners – Kuwait Konkans

Runners up – Starz

III Place –Al-Rathath

Best Server – Lavina D'Souza (Al-Rathath)

Best Smasher – Sylvia D'Souza (Starz)

Player of the Tournament – Flavia Sequiera (Kuwait Konkans).

The sponsors of the tournament were American Logistics, Pascal Pinto, James Paul (Al Mail Company), A K Ravindra, Swarna Shetty, Ramesh Kidiyur couple, Mark Pinto and Family, Murlidhar Bhandary, Bhaskar Bangera, Sudhakar Shetty, Govind Babu, Frida Rodrigues, Nakre Sathishchandra Shetty, Felicia, Anand, Jayasheela Menezes, Indian Delight Resturant and Diva Saloon.

Winners, runners up teams and the individual achievers were awarded with trophies and medals by the sponsors, TKK president, A K Ravindra and committee members.

Tharendra Shettigar ,Suresh Salian, Ramesh Bhandary, Rashmi Bhatt, Felicita D’souza, Shalini Alva, Agnello Saldana and Diany Cutinho did the announcements and running commentary of the matches.

Scoring was done by Sanmathi Menda, Vivek Shetty, Rekha Sachu, Rekha T Shettigar, Govind Babu, Chandrahas Shetty, Sachu Suvarna, Vikram Bhalthilaya, Kavitha Kidiyur and Vishweshwar Karkal.

Vote of thanks was proposed by general secretary, Sathya Narayan.

Snacks and lunch were served by Spinneys Confectionaries.

The tournament, which was conducted wonderfully, concluded at 10.00 pm with the singing of the Indian National Anthem.
